About Star

Changchun Star Adult Education & Training Center is approved by the Changchun Education Bureau, and possesses a "certificate of Qualification for Employing Foreign Experts of Art and Education." It has also been appointed as a "Changchun Residents' General Foreign Language Training Base". Changchun Star Adult Education & Training Center has devoted itself to developing English education in Jilin Province, introducing native English teachers with advanced teaching methods that have promoted the progress of basic and higher English education.

Teaching with Star

We have teaching positions at all levels including kindergarten, primary school, middle school, high school and university. Although we will do our best to place you in your preferred position, this may not always be possible. While many of our placements are in Changchun, we also have many placements in surrounding towns. While some teachers prefer more Western style amenities of Changchun, others prefer the chance to immerse themselves into the traditional culture of the surrounding towns.

China has very different ways of doing things in the West, which is often a cause of real frustration to the foreign teacher. Some examples include working weekends to make up for national holidays (which anyone outside of China will find difficult to comprehend) and the need to make changes, often at the last minute. While we understand our responsibility to make your transition into China as painless as possible, there are often times when being a part of the Chinese culture makes this difficult. If teachers are able to be patient and flexible and adapt embrace these cultural differences, their life in China will in turn be much more enjoyable.

A Degree of Extroversion

Introversion and extroversion both have their strengths, and each have their own contribution to success. However, a degree of extroversion can be of some help during your employment and life in China. First of all, the 'presence' and body language are important ingredients in the foreign class, especially for those whose English needs a little more help. Secondly, your relationship with your colleagues, both Chinese and of native English speaking countries, will take you a long way towards having a positive experience in China.
