The City

Two hours from Beijing and the beaches at Beidaihe, the city is in a great location and is experiencing a boom in expansion and internationalization (there are now numerous foreign restaurants including North American, Italian, Korean and Japanese). Medium-sized and friendly, Tangshan is also a great location for learning Chinese (with standard Mandarin spoken) and getting familiar with the company (we have had many Regional Directors and VPs come from Tangshan).
The climate in the city covers the basic four seasons. It is wet in spring, hot with some rain in summer, cool and pleasant in the fall, and chilly and dry in winter. The average yearly rainfall reaches 30 inches (760 ml).
Tangshan offers traditional Northern Chinese food at its finest. Lying approximately halfway between Shandong and Beijing, the local cuisine here benefits tremendously from not only their traditions but also from the Man, Hui, Mongol and Western Chinese nationalities.
Although Tangshan has a relatively low number of resident ex-pats, there is Western style night life to be found in the city. There are a number of clubs and bars around town which always make for interesting evenings out mingling with the locals. KTV (karaoke) is everywhere and is a very popular activity in the evenings after dinner.
The Team
The school is owned and operated by Eddie from New York City and his wife Sally (Du Chun Yan), a native of Tangshan. Eddie worked for Aston for six years, and Sally for five, before becoming owners three years ago.

Roll up your sleeves on any given night and sample the local medicine, Bai Jiu, with Eddie Diaz. Eddie Diaz is the primary foreign resident of Tangshan. He has two dogs and an even worse sense of humor. You may wake up the next morning with a vicious hangover and a 20 hour TEFOL teaching contract.

The Job
Tangshan Aston English is looking for 18, 23, and 28 hour per week English Teachers. The schools (two locations) have a family atmosphere and the dress is casual and relaxed. While the school has and trains teachers in a structured curriculum, teachers are encouraged to let their creative juices flow in planning and conducting classes. Student ages range from 3 -18 years old.
Benefits
Options include: part-time (19 hours, four days off), 23 hours (3 days off), and full-time (28 hours, 2 days off) and with salary from 4800-7000 RMB, flight reimbursement, insurance, free at-home internet, a free bike, 200RMB one off cell phone allowance, and ready to go shared accommodation with private bedroom.
