Full-time USTC in Hefei (a top C9 University in China) is hiring several foreign teachers for Sept. 2012!

at Bradley Henderson in Hefei

How would you like to work at one of China’s top Universities? USTC provides an excellent academic and cultural environment for anyone desiring an oppurtunity to use their teaching gift/style to the fullest potential. I am not a recruiter by career, I am a foreign teacher who currently works at USTC and have been asked by the University to help with recruitment of foreign teachers. The University has just decided to double the size of their EPC (English Practice Center) program, and is now looking for several foreign teachers who can start Sept. 1, 2012. The job does not involve any grading of papers/homework/tests, only simple evaluations that take a few minutes after each class, so you will not find yourself spending hours upon hours in your off-time doing these other things. They encourage new and creative ideas for their EPC program, which is one of a kind in China (there are no other known programs like this at any other Universities in the mainland as the EPC makes an honest attempt at creating a holistic English environment for Oral English). We are looking for responsible professionals from various backgrounds who have a passion for students and teaching, and who will represent our University well. See below for details and contact information.

Job Openings at the English Practice Center (EPC) of USTC
English Language Facilitator (Oral English Teacher) (2-3 positions currently open)
• Helping postgraduate science students improve their spoken English through a variety of
speaking tasks, such as topic discussion, situational dialogues, free talk, debates, drama, etc
• Assessing students’ oral performance

  • There will be teaching workshop(s) or seminar(s) each semester.

Working hours: Monday – Friday, 16 teaching hours per week, (including at least one evening class). At least 2 days off a week (since I have worked at USTC we have finished the 16 hours in 4 days, with 3 days off, not sure if this will change or be the same in the next academic year)

10 month contract (Sept. 1, 2012 -June 30, 2013)

-Teachers will have fully paid winter break (January and part of February), along with fully paid public holidays formally recognized by Chinese government.
-Teachers will also have 2 days paid holiday for Christmas (Dec. 24-25) and 1 day for Thanksgiving.

Requirements:
-Native English Speaker
-Bachelor degree or above
-Teaching experience and TEFL or TESOL certification preferred (although USTC has welcomed Foreign Teachers from many professional backgrounds in the past in order to diversify and enhance student’s Oral English experience, a desire to help students is more necessary)
-Age: Under 65

Salary:
Bachelors Degree = 5,000 RMB/month
Masters Degree = 6,000 RMB/month

Accommodations and Perks:
-Nice sized fully furnished private apartment on main campus of USTC provided. Heater and A/C, water heater, washing machine, bathroom, kitchen with gas stove and microwave, living room with flat-screen LCD/TV, coffee table, sofa, love seat, table and chairs, computer, printer, and desk in study.
-All utilities and internet paid.
-Access to all school facilities; including gym facilities.
-Comprehensive Health Insurance Policy (coverage at University clinic or other hospital in area if needed)
-International round-trip air ticket (international economy class air ticket for the nearest distance between China and the country of Party B).
-Upon successful completion of contract teachers receive a bonus equal to one month salary.
-USTC will sponsor Z visa and fully pay for and administrate Residence permit (USTC IAO has a very good relationship with the local and provincial government offices and does an excellent job administering this process as compared with many schools in China).

Contact me if you have any further questions. If interested, you can also email relevant documentation to me (resume, degree/certifications, copy of passport, letter of recommendation). I am a foreign teacher at USTC who also helps with recruitment of their foreign teachers; USTC is the ONLY school I help to recruit foreign teachers for, so any information you give me will be used for USTC employment purposes only.
