The natives are generally very friendly, eager to make new friends and many want to improve their ability to communicate. There is a special ‘draw’ to Xinjiang, where heritage and tradition add to the unique flavour of the region.
Ba Zhou Petroleum No.1 Middle School is a public school established in 1992, which practices a 12- year education system with primary, junior and senior schools on two campuses. The primary and middle schools are on the same campus located in the center of Tarim Oilfield Compound Residential Compound by the Peacock River. The compound is highly praised for its beautiful environment. The work and living situation is continuously supportive. The payment is higher than the local standard. Typically, there are three foreign English teachers working in the primary and middle schools at any given time.
The available position is instructing students in the primary school (ages 6-13) oral English. The class load consists of 16 to 24 40-minute classes per week. The class size is around 30 students.

Qualifications: – A healthy, native speaker of English from Britain, America, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand; – A Bachelor¡¯s degree; – A TEFOL/TESL certificate or teaching experience (desirable, not essential ); – At least 1 year teaching experience; age between 25-55; – Can make a 4-month contract (around August 25th, 2012—-January 10th, 2013 or a 10-month contract (around August 25th , 2012—-June 30th, 2013);

• Please note that you should arrive in Urumqi several days earlier before the school starts.

Compensation: – Stable monthly salaries: 4100 RMB£¨for 16 lessons per week£© to 5380 RMB (for 24 lessons per week). If the school cannot offer you 16 classes you will receive a minimum of 4100 RMB. If there are more classes, the school may require you to work more than 16 classes. The workload is usually between 16 to 24 lessons which the payment is scaled between 4100 RMB and 5380 RMB.

- A private, fully furnished apartment in Tarim Compound within 5 minutes walking distance of the school, 15 minutes of the downtown area, several minutes of Uyghur and Han food restaurants. Located by a river, the apartment ( 70 m2) is free. There is a computer on broad band internet, telephone, cable TV (HBO, Max Movies, National Geographic, Star Movies, Discovery Channel and ESPN), refrigerator, air-conditioner, micro-wave, roaster, oven, washing machine, cooking utensils, etc. – Refund for a round-way international air ticket for a 10-month contract and one-way international air ticket for a 4-month contract. – Travel allowance of 3000 RMB for a year and 800 for a term; – Teaching assessment bonus of of approximately 4400 yuan for a 10-month contract; – Paid public holidays and school vacations;

In my role as FAO, the school has directed me to pick up new teachers at Urumqi airport which has been done since the program began 6 years ago. You will stay in Tarim Hotel which is a five-star hotel (we will, of course, cover the expenses of your stay in Urumqi, including meals and transportation). You will be taken to the regional museum where mummies are displayed, to the local Uyghur crafts market and see some of Urumqi. These tours will be accompanied by me and will help you get used to Xinjiang. We take a train to Kuerle. After arrival, I show you around and help you settle down.
